After a short relationship in Monte Carlo with Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer), an attractive bereft man, a recently hitched young lady (Lily James) shows up in Manderley, the overwhelming home of her new spouse. Gullible and unpracticed, she attempts to adjust to her new life, however finds that she needs to battle with the shadow of Maxim’s first spouse, Rebecca, an exquisite and metropolitan lady whose inheritance is kept alive by the vile maid from Manderley, Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas).
