Ricki Rendazzo’s a rock star for 54 years, singing with her band, The Flash, in a bar and has a pretty superficial relationship with guitarist Greg. Ricki is afraid of commitment and responsibility, which is why he left the family years ago to fulfill his dream of being famous and rich. Her ex-husband, Pete Brummel, a ring and tells him that Julie, their daughter is going through a difficult divorce, after learning that Max has a relationship with someone else. Ricki returns to Chicago to console his daughter, but is met with hostility. She is surprised and two sons, Josh and Adam, the first is about to marry, gay second. Trying to get closer and find out things about (her ex) family, Ricki gave discovers what he left for Los Angeles.
