Operation Hunt follows the Korean operation during the 1980s, when the military dictatorship reached its peak in South Korea, Park Pyong-ho (Lee Jung-jae) and Kim Jeong-do (Jung Woo-sung) are on a diplomatic trip to Washington D.C. in the USA. Both have high positions in the country, one being the Head of Foreign Unit of KCIA (Korea Smart Service) and the other Head of Domestic Unit and so they are protecting the president of South Korea. While there, the country’s CIA informs them that there is a plan to kill the current president and that there is a North Korean infiltrator. The plan was to get justice for the Gwangju Democratic Movement, which left a trail of innocent victims. As they try to accomplish the mission, the two become increasingly aware of the dark truths of their own country.
