Boogeyman: The Boogeyman is a horror film based on the short story The Boogeyman by Stephen King. Following the original story, the plot of the film follows a family after the tragic death of their matriarch. Sadie Harper (Sophie Thatcher) is a 16-year-old teenager who is trying to deal with the desolation of losing her mother. Already inconsolable, Sadie still has to, while processing grief, face a completely sadistic and evil presence that torments her and her younger sister, Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair). Together, the sisters try to convince their father Will (Chris Messina) that a bogeyman with supernatural powers is lurking, but the man – also dealing with his own grief – doesn’t believe his daughters. One of the hypotheses for this nightmare is that the entity is probably after the family since a desperate patient visited Will, who works at home as a psychiatrist.
