In Muti, unable to cope with the death of his daughter, retired Mississippi detective Boyd (Cole Hauser) is tasked with investigating a series of grisly murders and decides to embark on a manhunt for the serial killer that kills every now and then. according to a brutal tribal ritual called Muti. The only person who can help Boyd is Professor of African Studies, Mackles (Morgan Freeman), but the anthropologist hides a terrible secret.
