Women Talking

Based on the book of the same name by Miriam Toews and inspired by real events that took place in the colony of Manitoba, Bolivia, Entre Mulheres follows the women of the religious community who struggle to reconcile their faith with reality. In 2010, the women of the isolated community follow the religion of the Mennonite church, and end up discovering a shocking secret about the men of the community who controlled their lives and faith. It is revealed that the men used anesthetics to drug and rape women and girls overnight for many years, sometimes resulting in pregnancy. It is the tradition of the quasi-Mennonite community to keep the woman in an uneducated, unschooled, illiteracy state with the aim of helping her to be fully subservient to the male members of the community and their needs.
